ISLAMABAD: Addressing an event organized to highlight his government’s performance in its initial 100 days, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday pledged to improve the taxation system, boost exports, introduce programmes to alleviate poverty and facilitate farmers.
He said the government tried to devise policies within the first 100 days to facilitate the masses.
Improving ties with India is aimed to boost export and increase employment in the country, he said and added he took only one day off within 100 days of his coming to power.
The prime minister said the government strengthened the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and set up the Asset Recovery Unit and signed MoUs with more than 26 countries on exchange of information to bring back looted money. A whopping $11 billion had been stashed away by Pakistanis in these countries as per information collected from the countries so far, he added.
FIA has traced transactions involving Rs375 billion through fake bank accounts, he said and added state land worth Rs350 billion has also been retrieved.
He said Punjab alone has recovered 88,000 acres of land from land mafia.
An operation was launched against those involved in electricity theft, he said and added every year Rs88 billion of electricity is pilfered.
The prime minister said 6,000 FIRs have been registered against those involved in electricity theft and added one of the main reason behind an increase in prices of electricity is theft.
Imran Khan said the government is planning to introduce health cards to provide better healthcare facilities to the poor. He said his government will spend Rs5 billion to provide houses to the poor.
The prime minister said he has asked all ministries to cut down on their expenditures.
He said the employment opportunities are being created to improve the living conditions and standards of life for poor people.
The prime minister said a uniform education system will be brought into the country to eradicate the education apartheid.
He said similarly reforms are also being made in the health sector. A task force is working to improve the conditions of government hospitals so that poor people avail standard health facilities.
Imran Khan said a single authority will be created to devise and implement policies for poverty alleviation. He said corruption leads to poverty.
The premier said this menace increases poverty in the countries as it deprives the nation of their due rights.
The premier said that there will be no future of the country, unless the scourge of corruption is curtailed.
The tag line of the ceremony held at the Jinnah Convention Center is “Bunyaad Naye Pakistan Ki” [Foundation of a new Pakistan].
The ceremony was attended by all federal ministers, advisers and PTI workers.
The PTI government also released a comprehensive report regarding its performance.

Here is the report

PTI had unveiled its 100-day plan two months before the general elections on May 20.
The ambitious agenda- often mocked by party’s critics- included transformation in governance, revitalisation of economic growth and ensuring the country’s national security.
