Mohammad Bin Zayed stresses culture’s role in strengthening ties

Paris: Culture plays a key component in the friendly relations between the UAE and France, as both countries believe in the important the role it plays in the development and peacemaking, said His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Shaikh Mohammad made the remarks while touring the Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Centre at the Musee du Louvre (Louvre Museum) in Paris on Thursday.
The centre, located in the Pavilion de l’Horloge of the Museum, highlights the achievements of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
“This Centre embodies the values advocated by Shaikh Zayed, including values of tolerance, cooperation and peaceful coexistence among peoples, irrespective of culture, religion, race, and geographical locations. The visitors get to know about his rich legacy and his inspiring endeavours to champion values of humanity, peace, stability and development for all peoples of the world,” he added.
Shaikh Mohammad described the Louvre Museum as a ‘global cultural icon’ that safeguards human heritage across different eras of history and promotes arts and creativity.

“The Louvre is a living example of France’s position as the epicentre of enlightenment, not only to Europe, but to the whole world.”
Shaikh Mohammad noted that the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which was inaugurated in 2017, is a culmination of the profoundly strong relations between the UAE and France, especially in the cultural domains. He added that the museum represents an example of cooperation in celebrating the common heritage of humanity and turning it into a symbol of peace in a volatile world.
“In today’s world, we need the common heritage of humanity to unite peoples and nations in the face of global challenges,” he stated.
Upon his arrival at the museum, Shaikh Mohammad was received by Jean-Luc Martinez, President of the Musee du Louvre, and a number of officials. He was briefed on the different sections of the museum.
Shaikh Mohammad stopped at the portrait of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and observed a minute of silence.
He also toured the Louvre medieval (Louvre of the Middle-Age) and stopped at the Saint-Louis-du-Louvre and also at the Shaikh Zayed Centre, which tells the history of the Louvre and interprets the collections held at the museum to millions of visitors every year, strengthening collaboration between the UAE and France, particularly in the cultural field.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Mohammad met with a group of UAE students attending French universities and institutes during his tour of the Louvre Museum on Wednesday.
While learning about their specialisations and academic conditions during the meeting, Shaikh Mohammad urged them to work hard and make diligent efforts to excel in their study so as to contribute — along with their other peers — in the development of the homeland.
“My children, you are the ambassadors of the UAE overseas and serve as bridges of communication and interaction to convey the bright image of your country, its values of tolerance and coexistence and its civilisational and humanitarian progress to other peoples and nations,” Shaikh Mohammad said while addressing the Emirati students.
He added that he was delighted at meeting with the students and checking on their conditions, affirming that Emirati students inside and outside the country are at the centre of the leadership attention, which he added, will spare no effort to provide resources to support them in their quest to reach their academic goals and excel in order realise their nation’s aspirations.
For their part, the students expressed their joy at meeting Shaikh Mohammad, pledging to live up to the leadership’s expectations and confidence by obtaining the highest academic qualifications so as to contribute in the country’s development and progress. They also thanked the UAE leadership for providing them with every possible services, assistance and support to pursue their academic journey.
Among those who attended the meeting were Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority; and Mohammad Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi; Mohammad Mubarak Al Mazroui, Under-Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court; and Lieutenant General, Eisa Saif Bin Ablan Al Mazroui, Deputy Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces.

Two parties discussed ways of bolstering distinguished ties of friendship and cooperation
Paris: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, met with French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe and a group of French businessmen as part of his visit to Paris on Wednesday.
The meeting took place at Matignon Palace in attendance of Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The two parties discussed ways of bolstering distinguished ties of friendship and cooperation between the UAE and France across cultural, educational, economic, investment and political spheres. The two sides expressed their determination to further advance joint cooperation and work.
Shaikh Mohammad and Philippe took a stock of the latest regional and global developments and exchanged views on a wide range of issues of mutual concern regarding promotion of values, peace, tolerance, dialogue and coexistence among different peoples and enhancement of security and peace in the region and the world at large.
Shaikh Mohammed said the UAE was keen to solidify its existing partnership with France in various areas and harness the available opportunities to expand and diversify bilateral economic and developmental cooperation.
Shaikh Mohammad said the UAE was adopting an ambitious development vision based on innovation, qualitative education and advanced technologies so as to build a knowledge-driven society that could open up promising prospects for Emirati-French cooperation.
Shaikh Mohammad affirmed the UAE’s keenness on creating a favourable environment that encourages and attracts world high profile businessmen and investors to maintain its gravity as one of the world most important investment powerhouses and hubs in the region and the world.
In turn, the French prime minister lauded evolving UAE-France’s ties and the joint cultural projects which, he said, strengthen bilateral friendship and cooperation.
He said he was looking forward for more constructive, qualitative partnership with the UAE so as to realise the aspirations of the peoples of both countries.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and French President explore ways to enhance bilateral ties

Paris: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday (Wednesday) held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, on bilateral relations and ways to broaden avenues of cooperation between both countries.
Shaikh Mohammad arrived in Paris earlier in the day on a state visit to France.
Shaikh Mohammad and Macron discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern as well as ways to augment bilateral ties in all spheres.
During the meeting, Shaikh Mohammad underlined that the UAE and France are partners in the war on terrorism, supporting values of tolerance, promoting interactive dialogue and coexistence between peoples and cultures, as well as rejecting fanaticism and hate. He also highlighted the need to work for peace, stability and development in the Middle East and entire world.
The two leaders discussed bilateral ties of friendship and cooperation in vital areas and ways to develop economic, trade and investment links between the two countries. The talks also touched on prospects for investment opportunities enjoyed by the two countries in view of the deeply rooted historical ties of friendship and common strategic interests.
Shaikh Mohammad expressed his appreciation of Macron’s keenness to support the UAE-French relations. He stressed that the UAE gives great importance to its relations with France, as it seeks to advance them in political, economic, security and cultural spheres, among others.
Mutual interest
He said that there is mutual interest between the two countries to continue consultations at the highest levels about common issues, especially in light of the existence of institutional frameworks to promote and activate consultation through various channels of communication, such as the UAE-French joint committee and the UAE-France strategic dialogue.
Shaikh Mohammad highlighted that the partnership between the UAE and France goes beyond political, economic and security areas to include cultural aspects, as manifested in prestigious institutions like the Sorbonne Abu Dhabi and the Louvre Abu Dhabi. The UAE and France also collaborate their ef-forts to protect cultural heritage in conflict zones.
Shaikh Mohammed said the UAE is keen to deepen its cultural and scientific relations with the friendly countries, which have historic contributions in these areas. “The relations between the UAE and France have transcended the concept of economic, political and cultural interests as they share a humanitarian message that calls for dialogue of cultures and civilisations to promote tolerance and reject all forms of extremism and terrorism."
The French President welcomed Shaikh Mohammad and expressed his hope that it would boost cooperation between both nations and help exchange views on a number of issues and regional and international dossiers that concern the two countries.
Shaikh Mohammad conveyed the greetings from President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Macron, who in turn expressed his wishes of good health for Shaikh Khalifa and greater progress for the UAE.
The two leaders stressed their countries’ keenness to continue close consultation and coordination at the highest level on regional and global issues of common interest.
Reem Ebrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation Affairs, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority, and Mohammad Mubarak Al Mazrouni, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, were present.
